Why doesn't the tuner pick up my guitar?
Make sure the microphone is not covered, move the phone a little closer to the sound hole, and pluck a single string cleanly. The tuner works best in a quiet room — background music or fans can confuse pitch detection.
How do I get the most accurate Acoustic Health reading?
Run the check in a quiet room, hold the phone at a consistent distance from the guitar, pluck once, and let the note ring out fully. Run your baseline right after restringing for the most meaningful comparisons.
Does the AI Coach save my photos?
No. The photo is sent securely to a cloud AI service to generate your feedback, then erased immediately after the analysis is complete. GuitarTools never saves your photos. See our privacy policy for details.
Can I use the metronome on my Apple Watch without my phone?
Yes. The watch app runs independently on your wrist, and you can turn the Digital Crown to change tempo.
How do I use the "Play E String" shortcut?
Say "Hey Siri, Play E String" or find the shortcut in the Shortcuts app. It plays the low-E reference tone so you can tune by ear. Reference tones are also available in Control Center.
